I have been following Syahirah Malaysia facebook page since early this year, and it is interesting to know that they have launched a new skincare product range which focus on their target audiences who are looking for flawless skin like those Korean celebrities as well as those who are worried about the non-halal ingredients when buying skincare products from Korea. SYAHIRAH Korean Secrets available in 2 ranges – Hydra Soft and White Glow. I decided to buy their Hydra Soft Facial Scrub as I ran out of facial scrub. Here’s what I think about this product after using it for 14 days.
What They Say
Korean Secrets range brings you carefully selected ingredients from Jeju Island in Korea. Formulated with the hydrating ingredients from the Tri-Flower Essence – Ginseng, Chamomile & Green Tea flowers, SYAHIRAH Hydra Soft skin care products are developed to provide moisture to your skin, so that you have a hydrated skin! SYAHIRAH Korean Secrets Hydra Soft Facial Scrub is formulated with gentle exfoliating beads that help remove dirt and dead skin cells for smoother skin.
Directions of Use: Squeeze 1-2 cm on the palms and rub it with a little water until frothy. Sort the face gently and then rinse with water.
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Palmitic Acid, Myristic Acid, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Propylene Glycol, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Panax Ginseng Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Fragrance, Butylene Glycol, Hydroxyethycellulose, Polyethylene, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.
What I Say
The first that makes this product appear outstanding is on its packaging. It’s turquoise and quite different from other existing Syahirah skincare product range. I actually attracted with the Korean words on the product, too. I find it’s a good way of marketing even though there are lots of other Korean skincare products which are targeted to Muslim consumers or those who are looking for a Halal-labeled Korean skincare product.
The product comes in a 100g squeezable plastic tube which I find just similar to other facial scrub products in the market. The colour is the only part where I noticed it differentiates from other facial scrub products in the market. It also has a cute packaging with attractive colors.
Just like other facial scrubs that I have tried before, this scrub has small particles which are gentle to the skin. It does not irritate the skin, and easy to wash-off the residue. It does leave my skin fresh and squeaky clean without the tightness feeling. Besides, it does not give breakouts or redness on my combination skin type. It really removes dead skin cells as well as brightens my complexion. I only used this 2-3 times a week. I find it’s a nice basic facial scrub, anyway.
I actually love this facial scrub not because it is formulated in Korea or because it is ‘Korean Secrets’, but when it comes to Halal, it means it does not contain alcohol which is good for the skin. I find it’s good to have my skin to be free from alcohol which makes the skin prone to ageing and dryness. If you are looking for a ‘skin detox’, I mean, you want it to be alcohol-free, this is the scrub that you should try. However, I would not recommend this to be used by those who are experiencing sensitive skin because these small particles might be quite harsh to the skin.
My Final Verdict
This is a good product especially for those who are looking for alcohol-free or Halal certified facial scrub. Apart from that, it gives my skin hydration without over-drying my skin. The price is very affordable. Great for all skin types except sensitive skin.
