With no signs of COVID-19 pandemic is going to slow down, donning masks while we go out has become the norm and many of us spend hours with thick mask covering most of our face. The Government has made it mandatory to wear mask in the public to curtail the spread of the deadly virus. Being safe from the virus is vital but the cost we have to bear is that our skin health deteriorates.
Life will never be the same anymore, and there is a need to focus on choosing skincare products that can solve the problems of getting allergies, itchiness and redness due to donning mask. Most of us suffer from acne breakouts due to extensive mask wearing – especially sensitive areas such as the upper lip, cheeks, and nose. This is due to impurities trapped within the thick mask layers, and the ventilation is affected. It depends on the materials used, and for some custom cloth masks, there is a need to keep a clean cloth mask as it accumulates sweat, make-up, beauty products, pollen and other particles floating in the air.
Truthfully, I also suffer acne breakouts from donning face mask throughout the day. I have to go through some reviews and tips on how others find solution with their breakouts resulted from long hours of wearing mask. Finally, I found some skincare products which have been helpful in improving my skin conditions. Here are some of the skincare products which I have tried and would love to share with you.
AXIS-Y Daily Purifying Treatment Toner
AXIS-Y Daily Purifying Treatment Toner clears out bacteria and dirts from deep within the pores as its nutrients from natural ingredients soothe the skin and promotes healing. With its 0.5% Salicylic Acid, this toner gently exfoliates and removes dead skin cells that lead to glowing and healthy skin. I use this twice a day – morning and evening, after cleansing. Just pour ample amount of toner onto a cotton pad. Gently wipe the cotton pad on the face and neck, focus more on acne and irritated areas while avoiding the eyes area. After that, apply moisturizer to ensure a healthy skin barrier throughout the day. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen, too! When using this toner, it is advisable not to apply skincare product that contains high level of Vitamin C as this may irritate your skin.
AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum
I usually apply this twice a day, after cleansing and toning. Just dab it on concerned areas as this serum helps to correct dark spots and brighten up the skin. I apply this on eyes areas as this serum can hydrates the skin. It does work wonder on my dark spots and acne scars within 16 days, with constant application. It does not lead to breakouts. AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum is just great to my dry skin. I would not recommend this to those who are experiencing sensitive skin as this serum contains Rosemary Leaf Oil.
LAVITEM Rice Brightening Pad Daily Toning Toner
LAVITEM Rice Brightening Pad Daily Toning Care contains 50% rice bran water which nourishes dull skin into a radiant skin. This refreshing essence toner pad is not sticky and does not leave the skin with greasy or tight feeling. It can be used every day – I usually apply it onto my skin (and neck, of course) twice a day, preferably morning and evening. It really makes my skin renewed and porcelain-like skin. Both sides can be used – the textured part is for ‘scrubbing off’ dirts and dead skin cells, while the soft side is for ‘conditioning’ the skin. Read my review here.
Face Republic Pureprep Trio
All of these products are super gentle to my skin. Never once I feel that tingling and irritation. It just leave my skin with suppleness, freshness, and hydration. The price is also pretty affordable considering Face Republic is all about minimalist skincare designed for Malaysian skin and lifestyle needs. Definitely going to grab this again! Hanna & Kent 90 Seconds Lazy Mask – Silky Sunshine & Midnight Charcoal
Hanna & Kent 90 Seconds Lazy Mask is fully soaked with concentrated serum which consists of many beneficial ingredients to the skin. The sheet prevent quick evaporation of the water phased of the ingredients. In other words, the sheet mask outperform the effects of traditional serum-type skincare even when applied once. Besides, the serum is filled with various vitamins and minerals that won’t dry out the skin compared to the paste-type face mask. That’s why I love using sheet mask as it is inexpensive compared to going to a spa, easy to apply, and really brings glowing effect on my skin. More about this awesome lazy mask here.
AXIS-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack
This AXIS-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack might be difficult to remove but this product does great job in calming and relaxing irritated skin. The beads are not harsh to the skin, and they do not irritate the skin especially when your skin is dry, oily or acne-prone. I love using this AXIS-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack as it soothes inflamed and irritated skin with its anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties. I also noticed that this wash off pack actually revitalizes the skin with a boost of anti-oxidants by clearing impurities and exfoliates dead skin cells with its Adzuki Bean granules. It is cruelty-free and vegan.
B&SOAP Mamie Blue Fresh Wash Off Pack
B&SOAP Mamie Blue Wash Off Pack is not a new product but I would consider this as a good wash off mask which contains Vitamin E that makes it an effective clay mask with anti-aging properties. I bought it from Althea Korea last time (during their clearance sale), and surprisingly this clay mask is infused with peppermint extracts that soothes and clarifies skin complexion. The fine bean granules (the black spots) gently scrubs away dirt and dead skin cells. I wrote a review about it here.
Soul Sisters Organic Moroccan Ghassoul Clay
After using this Soul Sisters Moroccan Ghassoul Clay for some times now, I noticed that my skin has been quite smooth and hydrated. It does give my skin with redness or breakouts. I think it is a good product because I can also use this as deep facial cleanser. I have a combination skin which is prone to acne, and I can say that this Soul Sisters Moroccan Ghassoul Clay actually helps to diminish the appearance of acne scars. Nevertheless, it helps to brighten up my skin. So, I find this product is actually worth to invest especially when you need something that is really good to your skin. Some beauty bloggers suggested that I should try applying on my whole body and hair because this Ghassoul Clay have been proven to give benefits. I haven’t tried it yet but will definitely mix it with my favourite hair shampoo soon. As for the price, I would say it is generally affordable. Find about this product here.
Garnier Light Complete Vitamin C 30x Booster Serum
I didn’t put much expectation on this serum at first but after using it for a week, I have to agree with what my fellow influencers have to say about this serum – it does work on reducing the appearance of dark spots, and acne marks. It gives a glowing effect, and brighter skin tone. Oh, this is one of Garnier’s best-selling serum. Read what I think about this product here.
