Well, hello there. Just finished reading The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. It’s a cute rom-com, and I love Olive from the start – in the toilet. I couldn’t stop laughing at how she thinks about her surroundings. She got this insecurity about herself that she found herself, sometimes, a failure. Maybe because she lost her mother to cancer.
“It’s okay. Expiration dates are for the weak.”
She kissed an ‘antagonistic and unapproachable’ Dr. Adam ‘Jackass’ Carlsen, and fake-dated him because she needed to tell her best friend that she moved on. Olive seemed to be a good friend as she tried to consider the feelings of her friends more than herself. I guess it’s her luck to be able to stay in relationship with a Professor which gave her the privileges as a Ph.D candidate especially when she was in competition with the rest of the candidates in the lab room.
“Carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man.”
The Love Hypothesis is all about friendships that one needs in assurance that she/he is not alone. It also deals with some issues revolving Ph.D candidates – abused mentally.
The romance between Adam and Olive developed slowly but it rather satisfying at the end. Great read!
“I’m starting to wonder if this is what being in love is. Being okay with ripping yourself to shreds, so the other person can stay whole.”
