When Instagram announced that they would start hiding ‘likes’ in the U.S. early this month, there were mix feelings from the celebrities (and social media influencers). Basically, Instagram likes are to be hidden from public view. You can still see your own likes, and companies can still be able to report on this metric to brands when you work with them.Is this a good thing? Here’s what you need to know.

This is going to make works more easier for the companies to detect fraudulent activities on Instagram. In fact, this is not going to be a good news for celebrities or influencers who buy followers or likes or do anything else to artificially inflate their numbers.

Survey has been made recently where 62% of those 300 respondents said they really wanted Instagram to permanently hide their likes as this can be ‘mentally good’ as it reduces stress, and encourages more creativity and high quality content to be produced, and rewards given for being authentic.
