#BeYourOwnInspiration: Maturity Is Not About Age

Life has taught me that age does not measure maturity. My failures have taught me something valuable about life that cannot be simply measured by age. There are many ‘people’ who cannot handle simple situations because they have no experience about it or simply say, they are not mentally matured yet. The hard slapped truth that maturity is attained by experience, not by the candles on his/her birthday cake.

Maturity is completely dependent on the kind of experiences a person has in his/her life, which is not related to his/age. In my humble opinion, a matured person can receive compliment or criticism without letting it destroys him/her. He/she accepts such thing ‘professionally’ and keep improving himself/herself.

There are many adults who cannot handle simple situations because they are not mature mentally. So, yeah… Maturity is attained by experience. Maturity is completely dependent on the kind of experiences a person has in his/her life, which is not related to his/age. A matured person can receive compliment or criticism without letting it ruin him/her. Matured person is secure in his/her identity, and possesses a spirit of humility which is not about thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. You accept yourself, and befriend with those who spread positive vibes. #mylifestyle #mylife #mystyle #mystory #ranau #ranaudihatiku #myheartisinranau #malaysia #sabah #sabahan #sabahblogger #sabahanblogger #luantifishspa #tagal #fish #weekend

Being matured is the realisation of the result of our acts would affect others and how we made them feel. The ability to have high tolerance means we are matured enough to deal with different kinds of people. I believe that being inconsiderate, stubborn, self-centered, and inflexible are the traits of childish attitude. In my opinion, maturity means doing good deeds even where there is nothing in it for you.

Having friends never define your level of maturity because maturity is based on experiences you had after all the years. In fact, I believe that not having a best friend just defines your act of choosing people because you don’t easily trust people after your previous experience. That’s maturity. However, being mature also means you have lots of friends but you still manage to adjust yourself to fit into the circle because you believe that every people have different personality.

I admit that I was wrong before this. I would usually say that a matured person is someone who has been living for years, older than my own age, and counted by the wrinkles. Alas! I was wrong because I met people who are older than me but they taught me things that do not even reflect their experience in life. Everytime they taught me ‘new things’, I would ask my parents about it – Is it wrong? Is it true? Is it valid? Voidable? And then, I met this young woman who is a few years younger than my age, she is the one who has taught me that maturity is not about age – maturity is all about how many experience one has gotten into their wagon. Sometimes a 10-year-old kid may have more experience than an 18-year-old teenager. She has changed my perception about maturity, and she’s one of my best friend though we might rarely meet nowadays as she is now having her own family.

Matured person is secure in his/her identity, does not copy others, and possesses a spirit of humility which is not about thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. You accept yourself, and befriend with every one without affecting what you think, and what you believe. You uphold firmly on ‘cause-and-effect’ that are based on your previous experiences.

Me? Membawang about others? Bukan kanyang kalau membawang orang lain🤣 Oh, sia putung bawang basar untuk masak ayam kicap saja. I don’t have time to think about what other people are thinking about what I do, apa lagi mau berfikir untuk compete sama orang lain. I’m thinking about my life and my goals. I am competing with myself because all I know is to be a better version of me.

Last but not least, the state of having a matured attitude is all about respecting other people’s perspectives, beliefs, and less judging by which you belittling another and insisting that you are always right. Maturity is a term of being a better human being that is beneficial to the people around you or the society, in general.

Do you have anything in mind about maturity? I would love to know what you have in mind. Let’s exchange opinions! 🙂 Just leave your comments. 🙂
