Ageing can differ from people to other people depending on the genetics, and hormonal factors. However, that does not mean you need to neglect the importance of taking care of your own skin. We cannot avoid getting old, but prolonging the process can be done. The skin is the mirror of our body. Whatever we consume will show on the skin.
I’m in my early 30s. I’m a busy mom who works during the day, and become a student during the night. My life is busy around the clock, yet I’m happy to know whenever I’m out to do make-up job for my clients, I always get compliments that I look like a 25 year-old woman. It makes me happy, and thankful. Some of the clients asked me what products I used to have a youthful skin.
I always stick to high-water content vegetables and fruits that are easier to digest. This not only improved my health but also makes my skin glow and look younger. Yogurt is one of my favourite because it contains Vitamin A which is a rich anti-oxidants for anti-ageing treatment. I also add seeds and nuts into my diet to improve the condition of my skin because the healthy fats prevent the imbalance in the body.
I also sip hot green tea before I hit the bed because I remember a friend once told me that tea should only be consumed before bed because it helps to keep the body relaxed. I keep to minimum sweet soda intake because I know it’s pretty hard to prevent myself from enjoying the sweetness. I drink water as much as possible because to prevent the loss of hydration which leads to dry skin. In fact, dry skin is very prone to form wrinkles and has higher tendency to age faster, thus, giving the skin enough nourishment and hydration is very important.
The importance of skin care should not be ignored, too! I learnt how to identify and choose skin care products that contains active ingredients that can stimulate collagen production, and hyaluronic acid from my friend, Janet, who works as a beautician. She stressed out that moisturizer and sunscreen are also essential as parts to slow down the ageing process. Why? Moisturizer, and sunscreen should be be reapplied with the right amount. Moisturizer as well as sunscreen cannot protect the skin all day long because the harsh environment always can dry out the protective barriers. So, never ditch the reapplication. Here is a simple step which I usually include in my beauty regime. Mix a teaspoon of honey with 3 teaspoons of coconut oil or olive oil, and also a few drops (3-5 drops) of Vitamin E. Massage it onto your cleansed face and neck in upward circular motion for 5 minutes. Then, leave it for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. I usually do this twice a day (morning and evening), and the result can be seen within 14 days. Try this because my friends also get the result from doing this regularly.
I also keep a positive mindset where I usually see life as beautiful and enjoy each day with appreciation. The mind controls everything. I believe that unhealthy mind can makes ageing occurs faster because we are our thoughts and feelings. It’s better to ditch the social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. I usually spend about 10 minutes, and reply those interest me only. By doing so, I can avoid unnecessary stress which causes the body to release Cortisol which often leads to weight gain, and so on. Happier people usually look younger when compared to people who frequently distressed.
It’s pretty hard for me to get 8-hour sleep a day because I work and study at the same time. However, whenever I have the time to sleep, I would sleep even though it’s only for a 10 minutes. I never want to look like a zombie. A good book to read is a great helper as I find it’s relaxing. So, I usually check for great books from Goodreads before purchasing them via MPH Online.
Last but not least, it’s important to exercise regularly, probably 3-4 times a week. Do not over-exercised because your body needs time to heal, too. Rest is part of the exercise where you allow the muscles to have their ‘holidays’. You can also do it at home because a healthy body and skin does not mean you need to spend time in the gym.
