Review: Yoko Hokkaido Milk UV Body Serum SPF 25 PA++

I have a friend who asked me how to maintain a healthy, radiant, and fair skin because she tried everything and trust me, she even bought every single whitening body lotion from the drugstores and applied more than 5 layers a day (using different body lotions). So, I asked her if she got herself a body serum at home, and she replied ‘No’. She then asked me the what are differences between body serum, and body lotion as she thought that both were the same thing. In fact, we often assume that serum is a lotion because they look all the same.

Frankly speaking, I’m addicted to serums (and essences, and ampoules, etc) every since I studied the Korean skincare regimen from my Bro’s Korean fiancée. Whenever I heard the word ‘serum’, my mind would goes like ‘Wow! This is definitely gonna be in my wishlist soon!’. I admit that I have many serums in my make-up room – both ritual and seasonal serums. So, let’s talk about serum and why do we need a serum (we have face, and body serum available in the market, anyway). Serum. Serum. Serum.

What Is Serum? Basically, a serum has more active ingredients than what you can find in your body lotion. Serum has a lighter concentration than lotion. That’s why a serum should be applied before lotion because a lotion tends to have heavier formula which creates a layer to protect the skin while the lighter formula in serum can penetrate deeper in the skin. In short, body lotion locks the serum inside the skin.

Why Do We Need Serum? If you’re wondering how these Korean celebrities have the flawless skin, the secret is serum. The Koreans are taught to take care of their skin since they were young. Totally different from most of us who would only grab basic skincare when we are about to get problematic skin like pimples, or even wrinkles when we get older, and some of our mum would say ‘Don’t wear mum’s skincare because it’s not for your young skin.’ Generally speaking, the serum addresses issues like wrinkles, pigmentations, dehydrations, whitening, etc. By applying serum, you can always achieve a refreshed, softer, and hydrated skin. A bottle of serum is loaded with hydrating ingredients as well as UV protection, and whitening (too!). The best way to apply any products to skin is to start with the lightest, and work your way up to the heaviest formula.

So, here’s the body serum which I have fallen in love to – Yoko Hokkaido Milk UV Body Serum with SPF 25 PA++. I received this from Natta Cosme as part of having it to be reviewed on this blog. Thank you, Natta Cosme. Anyway, I’ve made a video for you to have a peek, too. Sorry for the blurriness.

You must be wondering what are the benefits of having Hokkaido Milk, and Glutathione applied on your skin. Basically, milk is famously known as a great moisturizer, as it does not only has water but also fats that provide natural moisturising factors, apart from protein, vitamin, and minerals which act as anti-ageing properties. So, if you want to put a ‘slow motion’ on aging and keep your skin firm with youthful glow, you should consider milk in your beauty regimen because it helps to increase your skin’s water content as well as keeping your skin soft. Moreover, milk can cleanse, moisturise and exfoliate your skin.

Why Hokkaido Milk? LOL! Here’s the fact, Hokkaido Milk is pricey than the milk from other prefectures in Japan because those ‘live-happily-ever-after’ cows produce higher quality milk in a fresh air, green and beautiful scenery in Hokkaido. Its rich, and creamy texture has more benefits which you cannot find from other pasteurised milks in the market. However, if you are experiencing a super-duper sensitive skin, it’s better not to use any beauty products that contain milk because pH of milk is slightly acidic and it can irritate the skin.

How about Glutathione? Glutathione is actually a natural substance produced by the liver in which it can also be found in fruits, vegetables, and meats. Glutathione is used to treat cataracts, glaucoma, asthma, cancer, hepatitis, and other diseases that weaken the body’s defensive system. Due to its powerful anti-oxidant, Glutathione can be used as protection to collagen fibres from free radical damage which contributes to the elasticity of the skin.

What I Say

I’ve been using this for more than 14 days now, and I must say that this is one of the best body serum suitable for Asian skin. The serum comes in a 200ml squeezable plastic tube. Make sure to close the lid tightly as I experienced leakage when I brought this along during my travel last week.

Never underestimate this Thai’s product because it really gives your skin ample nutrients and leave your skin more radiant, healthy, and moisturized. The serum is very lightweight, and you don’t need to squeeze so much for the required amount. I love the soft and sweet scent, and it can actually last for 2-3 hours. The scent can be quite strong to some people. I applied this serum is after having shower/bath, and re-applied every 2-3 hours because I usually work inside the air-conditioned room. Since it’s lightweight, I usually layered it with my favourite The Body Shop Mini Satsuma Body Puree, or Vaseline Healthy White Instant Fair Lotion.

I also applied it before I hit the bed because I believe one should never skip beauty regimen even when sleeping. The skin needs enough nutrients to recover. In fact, I did apply this serum over my face whenever I forgot to bring my facial serum. LOL! It doesn’t leave me with breakouts but it gives me that dewy look. As what the product claimed it to be, this serum is very light, mild, and absorbs faster (like fast and furious, LOL!). The serum can be pricey for some people but as for me, as long it delivers the result, the price is no longer questionable.

For more visible result, I scrubbed off all my dead skin cells with Yoko Spa Milk Salt thrice a week to allow the serum to penetrate deep into the skin. Because this serum is enhanced with moisturizer to help retain my skin moisture, I notice that my skin has become silky smooth and fair like my baby’s skin. I have applied my right hand for the past 7 days just to test the effectiveness. I was planning to test it for 14 days but I couldn’t stand for another tortured days as Mr. Hubby was wondering why my right hand is lighter than my left hand. Trust me. I had to wear long sleeve just to hide my darker left hand.

Notice there’s a slight difference between my left and right hand.

  1. I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like
yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if
all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much
    more useful than ever before.
