This is my first review on feminine hygiene products after I was asked by a man who was helping his wife to buy menstrual pads. While most of the guys are very ‘gentleman’ and brave (enough) to ask other people and help buy for their other half, some may not be able to understand which pad is suitable for their spouse’s needs. Frankly speaking, I always made a few bad choices when buying feminine hygiene products in the past. I usually opt for the cheaper one without considering the quality of the product. Continue Reading
There are many post-partum belly wraps available in the market nowadays. Thus, there are some aspects to consider before picking up the best post-partum belly wrap. For most women, the best post-partum belly wrap includes the following aspects: (i) Comfortability: A good belly wrap has to be skin-friendly that does not break out an itch or cut into the skin when wrapping it around the body; (ii) Invisibility: When we choose a belly wrap, it is important to have a belly wrap that is not noticeable because this belly wrap is going to be worn underneath the garment; and (iii) Durability: A good belly wrap should be durable and does not easily slip off when we do out daily tasks. Most women are worried that they would have wider hips after pregnancy. It is unavoidable but the size can be shrinked to normal size, the size when you haven’t got pregnant. I am a Mom of 2 kids, and I still have my pre-pregnancy body. Well, I have a Grandma who is quite strict when it comes to post-partum. She (and she ‘allied’ with my mom) to ensure that I learn how to wear bengkung or traditional wrap (traditional girdle or even corset) during my confinement period, that is, 44 days. I had to bear the fact that I could not wash my hair during my confinement. No cakes, no biscuits, no cabbage, no juices, and not even fried foods during my confinement days. It was a strict one but the most challenging part was the traditional wrap! The worst situation was to unwrap when I had to go to pee. Continue Reading
Menstrual cramps are considered normal among women because all menstrual cycles involves the release of prostaglandin (PG) and uterine muscles contractions. Depending on the PG released, some women may experience with dysmenorrhea (bad cramps). Menstrual cramps are caused by several reasons which include low estrogen level, and low intake of magnesium. There are tons of treatments for menstrual cramps such as hot ginger tea, drinking a cup of hot garlic tea, or even take medicine to relieve the cramps. However, there is another solution in which you need not to consume. Continue Reading
Our skin is comprised of two (2) layers known as epidermis and dermis. The latter has collagen and glycosaminoglycans that ensure the skin elasticity. Basically, our skin changes over time which leads to visible appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, rough skin, uneven skin tone, and loss of skin elasticity. Our body has its natural ability to product collagen but as we get older, the production also decreases thus lead to the loss of collagen which contribute to visible appearance of aging. Our body has been designed to be self-cleaning and excrete toxins from the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, and foreign chemicals that we put into our body such as medicinal drugs, alcohol or tobacco. However, our body cannot always handle the accumulative toxins in our fat cells thus this become internal toxins when the body is under stress. These toxic waste products from the fat would be released to circulate in the bloodstream which can damage the protective intestinal lining, making our body to be less effective in nutrients absorption and cleansing. So, that’s why we need to detoxify these toxins from the body to prevent toxic overload.
I usually bring my kids out for a jog in the park because I’d prefer them to lead an active lifestyle rather than staying inside the house watching TV and playing with iPad. So, there are a few considerations which I need to take care especially when the kids are outside their home. First and foremost, living in a tropical country such as Malaysia, it’s impossible to avoid mosquitoes which every one of us would surely worried to have a red marks on the skin. Sometimes, it can be worst to the extent that it looked like a pimple. In order to ensure that my kids are always ‘safe’ when playing outside, I use mosquitoes repellant which I bought from the drugstores. This time, I tried Guardian BuzzAway Insect Repellant. Read more about what I have in mind. Continue Reading
