Good morning, everyone! I’ve just finished reading Laura Story’s When God Doesn’t Fix It. I’ve been a fan of Laura Story ever since I listen to her song ‘Blessing’. This book is extremely a ‘must-have’ one. It’s really inspiring one. I bought the digital book via iBooks, and I didn’t put it down once I started reading it. It’s a very inspiring story. Laura shares her painful story, and all the things she learned from her situations. Despite of her constant prayers, the situation that she wanted never change or get better but she gets better regardless of her situations. Laura learned that God may not fix everything in accordance to one own wishes.
We always have this thought that God loves us and He must grant our wishes whenever we pray really hard. Yet, what if God doesn’t grant us the wishes we’ve been praying so hard? This is one of the best books that I have ever read. Laura shares how she learned that God may not fix everything. In fact, your situation might never change or get better, but you can get better regardless of your situation. Our will is not necessarily God’s will. I admit that I cried while reading this book. It leaves me with a pang of remorse.
This book itself reminds me of my past experience. Though my situation is quite different but I can relate it with what Laura’s experiences – God has something better for us. I admit I put all the blames to God before this because He didn’t give me the life that I wanted, and left me with heartaches. I condemned God for letting others mock and insult me for what I didn’t do. I gave up everything, and almost commit suicide due to stress. It was a pang to my family, and least have known the life we were having back then. After years of secluding myself from people, I finally find myself facing with the people who insulted me back then. I have the life that I wished for, but this time, it’s far more better. I still have my old friends supporting me, and I befriend with new people. Lest that I know, I have more friends, and become stronger. In fact, I’m grateful with all the blessings I have now.
Sometimes, God doesn’t answer our prayer because He has something better for us. It doesn’t mean He has abandoned us. He loves us unconditionally, and His plan is beyond our understanding. He is patient even though we put all the blames on Him. He forgives when we think it’s so hard to forgive others. In fact, in our brokenness, He is there for us… Always.
